Jacquie Clare
BIO
Jacqueline Clare was born with Spina Bifida. She joined Special Olympics as a young girl in Buffalo, New York and then again as an adult in Florida, where she has been involved for the past 14 years. Jacquie competes in Basketball, Golf, Bowling and Swimming. Her favorite sport to compete in is Golf and her greatest achievement since joining special Olympics is winning her first Medal EVER, being a Gold medal in golf. Jacquie is also very proud of her involvement as an athlete leader and a Global Messenger. She credits special Olympics with helping her break down walls and realize that her disability does not define her. She is not her wheelchair. Jacquie’s goal while in Special Olympics is to always try new things or at least be open to trying new things. Special Olympics has helped her grow into a more independent individual, more than capable of doing things for herself despite her wheelchair. Special Olympics means she gets to be unapologetically authentic without the fear of being judged.
