BIO
Michelle Feiner, now 29 years old, started her journey with Special Olympics when she was 17, under the guidance of her friend Carol. Michelle competes in golf, volleyball, and powerlifting, with volleyball and powerlifting being her favorite sports. Since joining Special Olympics, Michelle’s greatest achievements are winning all gold medals in powerlifting while being the only female on her team. Recently, Michelle got the opportunity to be the only female special needs athlete alongside her Special Olympics powerlifting team to compete in the Special Needs category of a huge CrossFit competition called Bacon Beat Down.
Michelle is overjoyed to be selected to compete in powerlifting at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games and is proud to represent Team Florida. She is looking forward to competing and making new friends. She is focused on staying confident and not allowing her insecurities get to her. She is hoping to bring home a gold medal. To prepare for the 2022 USA Games, Michelle is training at CrossFit three times a week, exercising at her local YMCA, and walking every day. She hopes to show people just how strong she is, while proving to other girls that they are strong too.
Special Olympics has given Michelle more confidence in herself and her abilities. She is able to speak more comfortably with other people, making it more enjoyable to be around and meet new people. For Michelle, inclusion means staying strong, being positive and not being nervous about competing.
